Kragensfort stands as a testament to endurance. The capital of Galax County, it is a city of two halves, built on the strategic harbor where the wide, deep Gelf River empties into the massive inland sea of Gelf Lake.
It is not a city of high magic like Arcanus, nor is it a segregated, pristine marvel like Astra. Kragensfort is a bastion. It is a grim, practical, and proud military city, defined by the legacy of the Aasimar battalion that founded it and the 144 years of vigilance that have followed.
The Fort (The Western Heart)
The original "Fort Galax" still dominates the western side of the city, its low, thick walls of dark, river-stone commanding the harbor. The fortress was built by Aasimar hands and consecrated by their power; time has weathered its stone, but the structure remains as unyielding as the day it was built.
This is the political and military heart of the county. It is not a "palace" but a functional headquarters. Within its walls are the county's primary barracks, the naval moorings for the Gelf River patrol boats, and the armory, which still holds relics from the Great Aasimar War.
Most importantly, the fort contains the "Hall of Knights," the austere council chamber where the 1st Knight and 2nd Knight (the non-hereditary military successors chosen by Krager's system) meet to govern the county. The atmosphere inside the fort is one of quiet, professional duty, a direct legacy of the Aasimar veterans.
The Town (The Eastern Sprawl)
To the east of the old fort, protected by its own sturdy outer wall, lies the civilian city that the people call Kragensfort. This is where the descendants of Battalion 7 live and work.
The population is primarily humans and half-elves, but nearly all share a distinct Aasimar ancestry. This heritage is visible not in glowing wings, but in their proud, disciplined bearing, their pious nature, and the uncommon, celestial light that can be seen in their eyes.
The town itself is orderly and industrious. Its streets are wide enough for a militia to muster, and its buildings are practical, made of timber and stone. It is a hub for the farmers, smiths, tanners, and merchants who support the county's military-led government. While "safer" than the rest of the Forsaken Demesne, Kragensfort is still a frontier capital. The walls are high, the people are armed, and every citizen carries on their ancestors' solemn, 144-year-old duty: to hold the line and keep the Demesne safe.
