The castle is not a single structure but an architectural bridge.
The Root-Foundations: The southern wing of the castle is grown into the base of a massive Sequoia, housing the Elven court and their concubines.
The Granite Keep: The northern wing is carved directly into the mountain rock, housing the Dwarven court and the Duke’s personal quarters.
The Chamber of the Union: In the center sits the Ritual Chamber, where the walls are lined with 2nd World runic manuscripts and the bed is carved from a single, massive slab of Fire Gem. It is here that Suel watches and waits for the Duke and Duchess to abandon their dignity for their desire.
Suel’s omens are designed to provoke the base instincts the royal couple currently suppresses in favor of scholarly duty.
The Sweating Stone: The massive Fire Gem bed, once cool and steady, now beads with a thick, musk-scented moisture whenever the couple begins the ritual, making the surface too slick for formal posture.
The Snapped Quills: Every time a court scribe attempts to record the "biological data" of the union, their quills snap simultaneously, and the ink in their wells boils away into a pungent, floral vapor.
The Echoes of Thrumming: Within the Granite Keep, the natural resonance of the magma flows has shifted; it no longer sounds like moving stone but mimics the rhythmic, heavy heartbeat of a body in the throes of passion.
The Unraveling Silks: The fine elven silks and dwarven linens worn during the ritual have begun to fray and fall away on their own, as if the very air of the chamber refuses to allow the couple to remain clothed.
The Mirage of Reciprocity: In the polished facets of the chamber's gems, the Duke and Duchess do not see their actual movements; they see visions of themselves abandoned to carnal satisfaction, a vision of what they should be doing to satisfy Suel's demand.
Because the court is focused on the 2nd World technicalities of the ritual, they have failed to see the goddess's true intent.
The "Structural" Theory: The Dwarven engineers believe the "Sweating Stone" is a sign of geothermal instability and have called for more cooling vents.
The "Arcane Decay" Theory: The Elven mages believe the boiling ink and snapped quills are symptoms of "arcane static" from the 5th World's atmosphere.
The Duchess's Doubt: Only the Duchess has begun to suspect the omens are a commentary on their lack of fire, though she fears that admitting to "base lust" would undermine the dignity of the Elven court.
Suel’s patience is not infinite; she is also the goddess of Endings.
"She doesn't care if they have a bond; she wants them to use the other to satisfy themselves, then reciprocate."
If the couple continues to prioritize the "Ritual" over "Satisfaction," Suel may choose to end more than just the ritual. The omens are moving from the bedroom to the mines; recent Fire Gem harvests have been found cracked and hollow, as if the "life" has been sucked out of the stones before they could be cut.
The first omen observed by the physicians was the "Runic Pulse". When attempting to listen to the fetal heartbeat, the healers found that it did not sound like a single life, but rather like the rhythmic striking of an anvil deep within a forest.
Synchronized Resonances: The Duchess’s pulse has synchronized with the magma flows beneath the Granite Keep, a phenomenon previously thought impossible for an Elf.
The Stone-Skin Bloom: Small, iridescent flecks—not unlike the dust of a Fire Gem—have begun to appear on the Duchess’s skin where she touches the Duke.
Thermal Regulation: Her body temperature has risen to match the forge-heat of a Dwarven master, yet she shows no signs of fever or distress, much to the confusion of her Elven attendants.
Perhaps the most telling omen of Suel’s satisfaction was the sudden transformation of the Ritual Chamber.
The Muted Manuscripts: The 2nd World runic manuscripts, once the centerpiece of the "clinical" attempts, have physically faded. The ink has vanished from the pages, leaving only faint, indented patterns that glow with a soft violet light—the color of Suel’s favor.
The End of the Sweating Stone: The Fire Gem bed no longer beads with musk-scented moisture. Instead, it has turned a deep, solid crimson, remaining warm to the touch even when the couple is not present.
Silence of the Scribes: The "arcane static" that once snapped quills has ceased. In its place is a profound, satisfied silence that seems to repel the intrusion of those who would treat the pregnancy as a mere experiment.
The Lead Physician, a high-ranking Elf named Calamar of the Root, filed a report that has since been locked in the Duke’s private vault.
"We looked for a magical anomaly, but we found a biological absolute. The child does not draw life from the Duchess alone, but from the heat of the Duke and the very earth of Fetekiir. The era of separation has not just ended; it has been consumed by the fire of their union."
While the Court celebrates, the news of the Muul heir remains a guarded secret to prevent interference from those who might fear a unified Fetekiir.
The Mercenary Response: The six great companies have noted a shift in the Duke's demeanor—a renewed vigor and a "heavier" authority that suggests the future of the Aedrent’s Efforts and their peers is more secure than it has been in two centuries.
The voice of the goddess did not come from above, but echoed from the very marrow of the Duchess’s bones, vibrating with the authority of Endings and Lust.
"The era of cold stone and distant bough ends tonight. You have traded the dignity of the scholar for the fire of the lover, and for this, I grant the spark that was lost. From the deep heat of the forge and the high reaches of the Sequoia, a single life shall weave what two worlds have kept apart."
"He shall walk the mountains with the grace of the wind and climb the titans with the strength of the earth. His blood shall be a map of a forgotten age, a bridge built of bone and desire. He is the ending of the silence between your kin, and the beginning of a strength that even the Orlocks shall learn to fear."
"But heed this: My gift is not a permanent monument. I am the Goddess of Endings, and what is given in passion must be sustained in truth. Should your bed grow cold or your hearts return to the sterile duty of the script, I shall reclaim the breath I have lent. The Muul is born of fire—never let the embers die."
When the Duchess awoke, the "Runic Pulse" of the child was so strong that the Fire Gems in her headboard glowed with a rhythmic, violet intensity. She found she could no longer tolerate the scent of the medicinal teas prepared by the Elven physicians; she craved only the heavy, mineral-rich water from the deepest Dwarven springs.
The Duke's Vow: Upon hearing the prophecy, the Duke ordered the "clinical clutter"—the scrolls and tools of the 2nd World Council—to be moved to the archives. He vowed that the Chamber of the Union would remain a place of life and desire, not study.
The Secrecy of the Muul: Recognizing the child’s potential as a "hero" of the 5th World, the Duke and Duchess have agreed that the pregnancy will be framed as a "miracle of the earth" to keep the true nature of the Muul bridge hidden from rival duchies until the child is born.
