Crystal-Vein is a "Wet Village" built across a series of natural limestone spillways. The architecture is dominated by stone aqueducts, spinning water-wheels, and raised walkways that keep the residents above the constant splashing runoff. The air is perpetually misty, and the sound of rushing water is so loud that residents have developed a form of hand-signaling for daily communication.

Founded in Y115 by High-Crest engineers. They realized that the mountain runoff was being lost to the thirsty sands of the eastern plains before it could reach the subterranean rivers. They built Crystal-Vein to act as a "Valve," catching the water and directing it through deep-bore filtration wells. It is a vital node in the continent's hydrology, and while it serves High-Crest, its survival is essential to the "water-tax" Astra unwittingly receives.
