The Fringe is a part of the world that the World, the Feywild, and the Shadowfell all overlap. The Fringe is a constant gateway to those other realms. Travelling to the South you will find yourself in the Shadowfell. Travelling to the west you will find yourself in the Feywild. Any other direction, including a few in-between you will find yourself in the world. The Fringe is a place of high levels of raiding and contestation between the denizens of the Feywild and the Shadowfell and currently the demons and devils that are trying to raid both realms.

The gods built the region, but they did not govern it. The Feywild "mirror" of this 320x130 mile zone (containing the lands of Myriad and Gelf) simply became a new, chaotic border-province within the existing Feywild.
This territory fell under the domain of one of the most powerful Arch Fey in existence: Arch Duke Saveriath Nevaenodel. Saveriath is an ancient, god-like Elven fey who rules a vast, archduchy. He is not a vassal of any one king. Instead, he is a major political player who must constantly navigate the complex, shifting allegiances of all eight Great Courts (Summer, Gloaming, Winter, Spring, Autumn, Coral, Argent Star, and Court of Stars).
The "Fringe" is his most annoying, chaotic, and dangerous province. It's his "borderland," his direct, messy connection to the mortal world. He rules his three local duchies/counties (Myriad, Gelf, Rune) through trusted vassals.
His entire political existence is a balancing act, and he recently made his most brilliant move: the betrothal of his son, Leuten Nevaenodel, to Ylithyrra Galanevae. Ylithyrra is one of the most powerful and well-connected individuals in the multiverse—the direct, demigod daughter of the Goddess El (her mother) and King Oberon of the Summer Court (her father). This single marriage is a masterstroke, as it secures Saveriath a permanent, blood-bound alliance with both the Summer Court and a High Goddess of the Material Plane.
