To speak of Virtuous is to speak of the unwavering, unyielding line drawn in the root-choked soil of the Forsaken Demesne. Situated in a massive, hard-won clearing hewn from the suffocating, ancient woods just a day's ride south of Caspian's personal farmstead, Virtuous is a sprawling encampment surrounded by a formidable palisade of sharpened ironwood trunks and the rusted remnants of century-old siege weapons dragged from the earth. The settlement is built directly atop a reclaimed battlefield; half-buried, rusted plate armor and bleached bones are still visible, woven tightly into the roots of the encroaching timber.
In Virtuous, the rhythmic pounding of the war drums echoes through the dense trees from dusk till dawn, a constant heartbeat that coordinates the militia’s deep-woods patrols. The people here are masterful beast-tamers, riding swift, sure-footed steeds bred specifically to navigate the treacherous, root-woven forest floor and outrun hellhounds through the brush. Their current leader, Chief Tala Swift-Spear, came to power through the sacred Rite of the Tether—subduing a venomous forest wyvern using nothing but a woven vine lasso and her bare hands. When Caspian Silversky sounds the horn for a county-wide defense, it is the thundering hooves of Virtuous, weaving flawlessly through the ancient timber, that arrive first to shatter the fiendish lines.
