The Living Crystal Spire: The heart of the basin is anchored by an 18-foot-tall monolithic spire of living crystal. It emits a soft, pulsing teal-and-emerald luminescence that illuminates the entire valley. The spire rests on a velvety mound of moss, bound by twisting roots and encircled by smaller, sparkling crystalline shards.
The Glassy Lagoon: A perfectly motionless lagoon lies before the spire, acting as a flawless mirror. Its mossy banks are adorned with crimson-and-orange speckled mushrooms, ancient drapes of fern, and mist-catching waterfalls plunging down sheer cliff faces from the canopy above.
Primary Freshwater Anchor: Situated along the eastern reaches of Lement’s Chain of Lakes, the basin serves as the primary source of clean freshwater on Taneen.
This is a mysterious place, all life on Taneen is made possible by this location. Some old sailors that have explored it say, it is the only place that can send one home, once they have wrecked their ship here.
Mortal Misconception: Marooned sailors and castaways revere the location as the "Cathedral of Lilino," mistakenly believing the deity of the ocean built the basin and that its tranquil waters hold a hidden portal capable of sending shipwrecked survivors back to their homelands.
The True Master: The basin and surrounding forest are not the work of Lilino, but the physical manifestation and sacred domain of Eresi, who transformed the region from a volcanic wasteland into a paradise to sustain mortal life on Taneen.
The Corruption of Nis: Water elementals and malevolent spirits born of the corruption of Nis lurk beneath the calm pools. These entities project a false, alluring sensation of "going home" to unsuspecting travelers before pulling them into the deeps.
Eresi's Divine Garden: Extending directly to the north of the crystal basin lies the Sacred Forest, Eresi's personal botanical garden that powers the lush ecosystems across Taneen.
Arcane & Medicinal Reagents: The forest is choked with rare, exotic plant life, herbal medicines, and potent arcane reagents.
Harvesting Etiquette: Travelers seeking medicinal or arcane flora must strictly adhere to Eresi's harvesting rules. Harvesters may only gather specific portions of a plant, leaving the roots, surrounding soil, and remaining crops untouched. Defacing or over-harvesting the garden risks confronting Eresi directly.
The Northern Trail: Past the boundaries of the divine garden, the trail turns wild and dense, eventually leading toward the dragon lair caves, the northern coast, Varush Village, and the Highlands.
Settlement Hub: Because of its abundant freshwater and shelter, castaways often construct temporary camps, timber huts, and smokehouses along the mossy banks. Nearby, the refugee camp "Pummayroa Village" was established in 170 A.A. near a cleared dragon cave.
Flora & Forest Products: The surrounding woods contain dense stands of oak, pine, and hickory, making it an ideal location for collecting high-quality firewood and smoking lumber.
Wildlife & Game: The region supports healthy populations of woodland game, birds, and freshwater salmon, offering a sustainable food supply for traveling caravans.
