Name: No'Mitra
Pantheon: The Core Pantheon
Titles & Aliases: Goddess of Wives, The Caregiver, The Mother of Alliances, The Love-Binder
Gender / Form: Feminine. No'Mitra appears as a "universal" woman—she is at once young and old, beautiful and plain, but always with an aura of immense care, compassion, and non-judgmental stability.
Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Status: God (Reports to Thasa, Major God of Animals & Balance)
Divine Realm: Pacta Fidei (The Agreements of Faith)
Primary Domains: Wives, Women, Love, Childbirth, Family, Alliances
Portfolio: Women (especially wives), children, childbirth, and all "bound" relationships (for love, politics, or commerce). She is the patron of the institution of family.
Cleric Domains (5e): Life & Peace
Holy Symbol: A plain, unadorned iron ring, symbolizing a "bond" that is strong, simple, and unbreakable.
Favored Weapon: None. (Her clerics favor the Quarterstaff or Mace)
Favored Colors: Iron-grey, soft brown, and a "blood" red (for "life-blood" and "childbirth").
Sacred Animals / Plants: The hen (for her protection of her chicks) and the apple (for fertility).
Core Dogma (The Philosophy): "The bond is the sacred, lawful core of society. It does not matter why the bond was formed—for love, for alliance, or for peace. The bond exists. It must be protected. I am the guardian of the wife, the mother, and the child. I will protect the family unit, for it is the bedrock of the world. Love is the tool, but the bond is the law."
Tenets for Followers (The "Thou Shalt"s):
"Protect the mother, protect the child."
"Honor every bond, whether it is for love or for law. A promise is a promise."
"Care for all. Your role is not to judge the relationship, but to support the people in it."
"Foster love where you can. A bond of law can be made a bond of love."
Sins & Taboos (The "Thou Shalt Not"s):
"To harm a woman in childbirth. This is the most unforgivable sin."
"To break a sacred bond (like a marriage) for a selfish or trivial reason."
"To abandon a child."
"To stand by and do nothing while a mother or child is in danger."
A note on rape: "Rape is not a 'bond'; it is a 'breaking.' It is an act of violence that my law abhors, as it creates no 'love,' only "void.'"
Superiors: Thasa (Major God). Nira is Thasa's "domestic" counterpart. No'Mitra is the "micro" Circle of Life (the family unit). She is the "lawful" side of Thasa's "chaotic" portfolio, creating the stable "herds" (families) that populate the world.
Subordinates: None (God tier).
Counterparts:
Eisa & Noi (Gods): Her "co-workers" in the "passion" portfolio. They are the gods of seduction and carnal pleasure; No'Mitra is the goddess of the consequences and commitments that come from it (love, family, childbirth).
Mortals: Worshipped by all women, but especially midwives, wives, and mothers. She is also the patron of politicians and kings who are arranging "dynastic marriages," as they pray to her to make the alliance a loving one.
Demigod Offspring:
Keldorfinn Wolfclaw (Life)
Name of the Church: The Hands of the Caregiver, The Order of the Iron Ring.
Worshipper Base: Wives, mothers, midwives, healers, and politicians (who arrange alliances).
Clergy Structure: A simple, nurturing order. All priests are "Caregivers" or "Midwives" (even the males).
Temple Description: Temples are always "homes." They are birthing-houses, orphanages, or women's shelters, often with a large, warm central hearth and many beds.
Rites & Rituals: "The Blessing of the Child" (a naming ceremony), "The Rite of the Iron Ring" (a marriage ceremony), and "The Love-Bind" (a secret rite where a priestess will pray for a newly sexual couple to fall in love).
Holy Days:
"Mother's-Day": A day where all mothers are given gifts and are not allowed to work.
"The Day of the Alliance": A holiday celebrating a major political marriage in the nation's past that became a loving one.
The Love-Bind: The core myth. It tells of how No'Mitra uses the "passion" of sex as a tool to "cast a spell of love" on a couple, binding them together. Sometimes, the spell is instant. Sometimes, it takes a lifetime. This is seen as her "Lawful" way of creating "Order" (love) from "Chaos" (lust).
